Health and Safety Coordinator

Pareto FM is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in promoting a positive health and safety culture across our contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. You’ll work closely with the Health and Safety Manager to reduce risks and incidents, keeping both our employees and clients safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- To promote a positive Health and Safety Culture, actively seek to reduce Accidents and Incidents in co-ordination with the Health and Safety Manager.
- To co-ordinate and support the management of Health and Safety Risks and Hazards within the contract for our employees and the clients.
- Identify risks and provide recommendations of control measures to the Health and Safety Manager. To provide plans of action to implement approved control measures to key personnel within the contract.
- Research and provide advice to ensure compliance and best practice of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Implement the Pareto Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures for works carried out by Pareto employees.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements for Pareto works.
- Manage and approve subcontractors carrying out work within the contract in line with the Pareto subcontractor approval process.
- Issue Permits for both Pareto and Subcontractors as required.
- Effectively maintain training records within the contract and ensure all first aiders, fire marshals, etc. are booked onto appropriate refresher courses in line with the contract.
- Complete training courses as required under the Ed App programme.
- Become familiar with and champion the use of Safety Culture within the contract.
- Undertake Audits and Inspections as required by the Pareto HSEQ Committee and internal contract requirements.
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Manager to effectively close out actions, monitor and report to the Health and Safety Manager on compliance.
- Read, understand and implement all Pareto Procedures and Policies for our works.
- Attend all HSEQ Committee meetings, share Health, Safety and Environment best practice initiatives as set by the HSEQ Committee.
- Ensure the timely reporting of Accidents and Incidents to the Health and Safety Manager. Provide summary reports of the Accident or Incident.
- Report results and impact of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental activity to the Health and Safety Manager
- Monitor key performance indicators and report to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Develop a robust understanding of the HSEQ pages of the Pareto Sharepoint.
- Maintain own training and embark upon CPD.
General Responsibilities:
Effectively build and manage relationships with key staff.
- Professional and timely answering and responding to phone calls, messages and emails.
- Maintain own and Pareto employees work areas to a clean and tidy standard.
- To do all possible to upkeep and enhance the professional image of the business and its brand.
- Understand own limitations, know when to call the Health and Safety Manager.
Essential Skills
- Relevant training and certification in Health and Safety (i.e. IOSH Managing Safely or similar depending on applicant).
- Fluent in English with excellent written and grammatical skills.
- Experience in HSE compliance and knowledge of HSE best practice.
- Good people skills, ability to communicate effectively.
- Organisation and Analytical skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and cooperatively with others.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Working experience of Microsoft Office tools.
