Pareto FM has an excellent opportunity for a Resident Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at a high-profile commercial site in King’s Cross, London.
This role is based at one dedicated site, allowing you to build a strong understanding of the building, its plant and critical systems while working closely with the wider facilities and contract management teams.
You will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the client’s assets are maintained in a safe, efficient and fully operational condition.
The Role
As a Resident Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of building services systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks
Maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical plant and associated systems
Fault finding on building services equipment and responding to system failures
Responding to BMS alarms and carrying out first-line diagnostics
Supporting and monitoring specialist subcontractors when attending site
Ensuring plant rooms and engineering areas remain safe, clean and well maintained
Maintaining accurate logbooks, compliance documentation and maintenance records
Updating simPRO work instructions and providing photographic evidence of completed works
Monitoring building environmental conditions via HVAC plant systems
Carrying out regular site walk-rounds to ensure systems are operating as intended
Reporting hazards, plant issues or compliance risks to the Supervisor or Contract Management team
Supporting plant start-up, shutdown, plant changeover and operational checks
You will also undertake small installation works and assist with repairs as directed by the Contract Supervisor or Management team.
Working Hours
08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Additional overtime outside of these hours may be required, depending on operational needs
Overtime is not guaranteed
No on-call rota at this time
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced engineer who is organised, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
You should be comfortable operating within a busy, business-critical environment and able to respond effectively to reactive maintenance issues.

Qualifications & Technical Experience
Essential
City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
Strong knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations and safe working practices
Desirable
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
IOSH Working Safely
IPAF and PASMA certification
Unvented hot water systems training
Experience with BMS, generators, controls, lighting systems and water systems
Knowledge of ACOP L8 / water treatment systems
High Voltage systems knowledge or certification
Experience maintaining and fault finding across equipment such as:
Boiler plant
Ventilation systems
Pumps and pressurisation systems
Generators and switchgear
Electrical distribution systems
Small power and lighting systems
