Electrical Engineer

This role reports into the Work Space Manager based on site and will be responsible for supervising an engineer in training.
Purpose of role
- As a multi trade operative you will be responsible for undertaking both planned and reactive maintenance. The purpose of the role is to carry out the day-to-day maintenance supporting the Contract, Supervisor or Management ensuring the clients assets are maintained in a safe, efficient, and functional order.
- You will be well organised and possess the ability to work to agreed timescales, respond to emergency situations, and work well as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Maintaining and keeping in good repair, the clients mechanical & electrical systems along with all associated component parts.
- Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
- Record keeping on the clients electrical and mechanical systems including health and safety are completed and kept up to date.
- Bring to the attention of the Supervisor and Management any issues with completing Statutory Planned Maintenance where Statutory Planned Maintenance cannot be completed.
- Maintaining comfortable environmental conditions always via the HVAC plant for the client.
- Reactive repairs to plant and equipment failure as and when required, fault finding on the clients mechanical and electrical systems and responding to BMS alarms & utilising the system for fist line diagnostics.
- You will have full knowledge and operation of all plant and services for which you are responsible which includes the following operating procedures:
- Preparation of plant start up.
- Plant start-up (normal and emergency).
- Fault Finding. General.
- To undertake regular “housekeeping” walk-round of the client’s premises to ensure:
- Plant rooms are in a clean and tidy condition.
- No health and safety issues are present.
- Plant is working as per building specification.
- Effective and courteous liaison with both the client and the end users is essential, a good level of communication skills, both written and verbal is essential.
- To carry out maintenance, repair, and small installation tasks as directed by the Contract Management.
- Maintain records and documentation appertaining to Health & Safety, building compliance where required.
- To maintain and develop good team relationships.
- Good communication to encourage a professional, courteous and helpful manner with clients and colleagues.
- You will immediately bring to the attention of the Supervisor and Account Manager any real or potential hazard relating to the safety of personnel or threat to the reliability of essential plant and services.
- You may be required to work overtime during evenings, weekends and public holidays to meet the business and clients’ needs. There is no guarantee of regular overtime.
- You will be required to undertake any other duties as may be required by the Contract, Supervisor and Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Good knowledge of multi trade skills are required including but limited to plumbing, carpentry and general building tasks.
- Qualified to City & Guilds Level III or equivalent in Mechanical discipline (desirable)
- Completed 18th Edition I.E.E or mechanical equivalent (desirable).
- Completed City & Guilds BS 2391 Level 3 Electrical Inspection & Testing (desirable) or mechanical equivalent
- IOSH Working Safely (desirable)
- PASMA and IPAF 1b/3a/3b (desirable)
- Knowledge of and experience in BMS/Generator/Controls /Lighting Systems/Plumping/Sanitary Wear /Drainage Systems/Low Pressure Hot Water Systems /Ventilation Systems (desirable).
- Experience of maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including:
- boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators
- Batteries, small power and lighting (where applicable)
