Job Title: Facilities Assistant
Reports To: Front of House Manager
Location: Canary Wharf
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £32,000
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 08.30 to 17.30
Job Purpose: The Facilities Assistant supports the day-to-day running of the site by ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This includes a combination of housekeeping duties, general maintenance support, and assisting with facilities management tasks to help the site operate smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping & Cleaning Duties: Ensure all communal areas, meeting rooms, kitchenettes, and restrooms are kept clean, tidy, and fully stocked throughout the day. Manage waste and recycling processes, including bin emptying and segregation. Replenish consumables (e.g., toilet paper, soap, hand towels). Ensure there is ample kitchen supplies such as cups, glasses, cutlery. Load and unload dishwasher throughout the day.
Facilities Support: Carry out routine checks of the building, reporting any faults or maintenance issues to the Senior Facilities Coordinator, set up meeting rooms and event spaces as needed (e.g., moving chairs, tables, AV equipment). Support basic maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, minor repairs, checking safety equipment). Assist with deliveries, stock movement, and storing supplies in accordance with site procedures.
Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety policies and procedures. Support emergency procedures and participate in drills (e.g., fire evacuations). Ensure cleaning chemicals and equipment are used safely and stored correctly.
Skills & Experience Required: Previous experience in a facilities, cleaning, or housekeeping role preferred. Basic handyman or maintenance skills are an advantage. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Good communication and teamwork skills. Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness. Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
Additional Information: Reception duties will be required to provide cover for lunch breaks and leave. Uniform and necessary equipment will be provided. Training will be given on company procedures and health & safety. Some flexibility in working hours may be required depending on business needs. Must be a fire warden or willing to be a fire warden following training. Must be a first aider or willing to be a first aider following training.
